Miscellaneous Poetic Rantings

Road to Disaster

No matter who said it,

Preacher, Prophet, Priest or Pastor;

If it contradicts holy writ,

Can only lead to disaster.

Mercy for Pit Bull Dogs

Because of people that they kill,

Of pit bull dogs I have my fill.

The best solution is, I think,

That all of them should be extinct;

But to be merciful, I choose,

Keep a few alive for the zoos.

A Challenge Met

 Bark and growl and hackle your hair;

Bare your teeth and paw like a bear.

I’m not afraid if you actually fight;

‘Cause your bark’s not big as my bite.

Another Permanent Solution
To the School Finance Problem

Texas Founding Fathers made a fast rule,
Vast tracts of land went to the schools.
Never for funds would the schools lack,
Their books’ bottom lines would always be black.

Something went wrong; the land got away;
So the State in its wisdom had this to say:

If on the horses you let us bet;
All the money the schools will get;
All the money will go to the schools.
Oh the money will go to the schools,
The taxes we get from those gambling fools,
Will all go to the schools.

Like a sieve full of water, the money got away,
For a another permanent solution we pray.

We got a state lottery;
To fill the school treasury;
All the money will go to the schools
Oh the money will go to the schools,
The taxes we get from those gambling fools,
Will all go to the schools.

But the money ran out, without any doubt,
Another permanent solution we flout.

The school finance problem was solved again today;
Casino gambling is now ok;
The money will go to the schools
Oh the money will go to the schools,
The taxes we get from those gambling fools,
Will all go to the schools.

Promises the schools can’t spend;
Promises that just won’t end;
All the money will go to the schools.
Oh the money will go to the schools,
The taxes we get from those gambling fools,
Will all go to the schools.

The Lie and Political Progression

A lie doesn’t always start with malice,

A semi-truth embellished and polished,

Becomes pretty and shiny and as big as Dallas.

Like a snowball grows as it’s often told,

Till the liar convinces himself it’s true.

Then gets tellers to help him reach his goal.

More people with conviction repeat it,

Proving that a lie told loud, long and often,

Gullible people will begin to believe it.
