Appeasement hurts.

Wolves at My Gate

An allegorical warning from history on appeasement

by Joe B. Hewitt

Wolves at my gate, they snarl and stare.

They can’t hate me. I don’t hate them.

They show their teeth. They crouch and lunge.

To make friends, be a friend, and care.

Surely they’ll see I’m full of love.

One with teats that sag, a mother,

Will see that I’m a mother too.

My hand is harmless as a dove.

She bites me hard. My blood she licks,

I scream; she snarls. Something went wrong.

It has to be my fault somehow,

Or his fault who says, “Kill the bitch.”

I’ll feed the wolves. They’ll come around.

They eat. Tails wag in contentment.

Wolves don’t behave well when hungry.

Just keep them fed. Peace will abound.

My child! Bitten and bloody died.

Deepest grief, my child, cold and pale.

Could she have provoked the wolves?

She may have hurt their pride.

Let’s show them goodness, they’ll be good.

Let’s open the gate. Let them in.

Show them how we try to understand.

Welcome them to the neighborhood.

(NOTE: People coddled up to the Communists, believing that if we just loved them they would love us. In August, 1950, after the North Korean Army pushed the South Koreans and Americans south into Pusan in southeast Korea, the Communists first order of business was to kill off the intellectuals, many of whom had sympathized with them.

During the war in Viet Nam, many Vietnamese intellectuals cozied up to the Communists, thinking they would reciprocate. In the 1968 Tet Offensive, the Communist troops made killing them their first priority.

Now some are bowing to Islamist extremists with the same mind set. They are wolves at our gate. If we let them in we can shower them with sweet goodness. But then they will do as their nature demands, conquer, subjugate, and humiliate.

In the 21st Century we have an enemy, unseen and stealthy, a movement to minimize America. As if feeling guilt for our nation’s greatness, these people want to bring the United States down. This movement is establishing a voter constituency of people who look to government to provide. A great portion of the producers’ hard work goes to support those people who can but won’t work and an inflated bureaucracy, all non-producers.

This enemy is hard to identify and confront because it is ever changing and morphing into different shapes, but continues in the same mission.

These too are wolves at our gate.

How not to hold a grudge

Use Your Grudge Bucket

Intentionally or not, with malice or without,

Close kin, strangers, friends and all will do you wrong,

Will make you so angry you’ll scream and shout.

Stay calm and build a grudge to last so long,

Then put the big bad grudge in your grudge bucket.

Take the grudge from your mind; replace it with a song.

Be sure your grudge bucket has a hole in it.

The Perfect Place

How Can We Qualify

To Enter a Perfect Place?

Imagine a far-away place that's perfect. There is no disease, no crime, and no injustice. We want to go there. But would we be allowed in?  We'd surely be screened out because we carry all kinds of bacteria, virus, and fungus that might contaminate the perfect place.

There would be another problem. To be sure we didn't pollute the moral climate of the perfect place, the perfect place's immigration department would probably demand that we had never committed any crime or injustice.

On the whole, we judge ourselves to be good people, with much more good than evil in us. But if the perfect place is to stay perfect, it can't take any chances.

Our applications would be rejected. Sorry, no chance. The only way we could qualify as non-polluting would be for us to be born again, with the same personalities and the same memories and attachments of love that we now have.

Just like the perfect place would require a miracle, so would the special, new birth.

You guessed it. God can do it for you. He planned it all long before you were born.

God has a perfect place for us. He calls it Heaven. But we're not fit to go there, physically or morally. We can't take anything there that deteriorates or rots. That eliminates the possibility of taking all this bacteria, virus, and fungus. It also eliminates taking this imperfect moral record as well. Our dilemma was one that only God could solve. And He did!

First He made a rule that if a perfect substitute took the punishment for all our wrong-doing, then our record could be clean. But where would we find a perfect substitute?  Only one being had all the qualifications of morality and strength, and that was God.

Jesus Himself said, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16 NIV)

So Christ makes us fit for entry into the perfect place, Heaven.

God didn't really blame us for the bacteria, virus and fungus, but it had to be taken care of. He had a plan for that also. When it comes time for Christ's people to go to the perfect place, their bodies will all be changed, in a moment, as quick as a twinkle in your eye. Their bodies will no longer be subject to rot, will be non-contaminating, and eligible for entry into the perfect place. We don't know how God does it, but that's His department. He will do it.

If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, trusting Him as your Lord and Savior, and committed to Him, you are a Christian, and you will want to associate with other Christians. That's what churches are for. Your local church is not a perfect place but can give you the directions.

My new book is available in e-book format as well as print.

My latest book on the Jehovah's Witnesses cult, Rescuing Slaves of the Watchtower (Hannibal Books, 2011, ISBN 9781613150061) is available in Christian Bookstores, or can be ordered from my website, www.joebhewitt.net or Amazon.com. The e-book version is available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Sony e-books.

Almost every family has a member, friend, or co-worker who is under complete control of the Watchtower Society. This book shows

·         how to rescue them and restore Jehovah’s Witnesses to normal society,

·         how to protect your children from being taken in by this cult, and

·         how to set free guilt-ridden and despondent Ex-Jehovah’s Witnesses and restore them back into normal society.

Author Joe B. Hewitt was a third-generation Jehovah’s Witness who has spent most of his adult life exposing the Watchtower’s false teachings and helping Jehovah’s Witnesses get free from mental bondage to Christian liberty.

The book contains endorsements from Dr. Bob Dean, Executive Director of Dallas Baptist Association; Dr. Rudy Gonzalez, Dean, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; and Dr. Jimmy Draper, President Emeritus of LifeWay publishing.
